Free career tools, built as the opposite of the paywalled resume builder.
RoleReady is a set of browser-based tools for writing a resume, matching it to a job, estimating pay and preparing for interviews — plus plain-spoken guides from the people who read resumes for a living.
Last updated: October 29, 2026
Most "free" resume sites follow the same script: create an account, spend an hour in the editor, then discover that downloading your own document requires a subscription — or that a watermark appears on the page, or that your resume was uploaded to a server you have never heard of. RoleReady exists because that experience is absurd.
Every tool here runs entirely inside your web browser. Your resume, your salary figures and everything else you type are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to us or anyone else. There is no server-side copy, no account, no watermark and no paywall at the download step.
What is on the site
Eight tools cover the practical parts of a job search: a resume builder, a cover letter generator, an ATS readability checker, a keyword extractor, a take-home pay calculator, a job offer comparison, an interview prep question bank and a template gallery.
Alongside them, our guides explain the reasoning: how applicant tracking systems parse a file, which resume keywords matter, how to tailor without exaggerating, what an offer is actually worth and how to answer behavioral questions without rambling. Every guide links to the tool that puts the advice to work.
Our approach to privacy
Client-side processing is the whole design, not a marketing line. When a tool says "nothing leaves your browser", it means the calculations and previews are performed by JavaScript in the page. Drafts are kept in your browser's local storage so you can return to them on the same device; clearing site data removes them permanently. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail, including the limited server-side information any website receives.
Editorial standards
Career advice is only useful if it is accurate and accountable. Our guides follow these rules:
- Named authors, stated credentials. Every guide carries a byline. Our writers are a certified resume writer, a recruiter and a career coach, and their credentials are listed on their author pages.
- Experience over theory. Advice comes from people who have screened, edited or coached through the situation being described — not from aggregated summaries of other people's blog posts.
- No guarantees. We do not claim that a resume will "pass" a particular employer's system, or that a salary script will produce a specific raise. Tools and guides describe what generally helps and why.
- Corrections are welcome and acted on. If something is out of date or wrong, email us and we will fix it, with the update date revised.
- Advertising is separate from editorial. Advertisers have no input into guide content, tool behaviour or rankings. Ads are labelled and never placed inside the resume editing workspace.
- No AI-generated filler. Guides are written and reviewed by the named author before publication.

How the site stays free
RoleReady is supported by advertising. That is what allows every tool to stay free with no account and no download fee. We keep ads reasonable, label them clearly, and never place one inside the resume or cover-letter workspace. We do not sell personal information, and we do not have a customer database to sell — the tools never send us your document.
Contact
Questions, corrections, partnership requests or privacy concerns: email [email protected] or use the contact page. We read everything and usually reply within a few business days.
